My Personal Chef is a Mutant Ninja, He's Also a Teenager.

Pizza, is the name of game, the PizzaGame if you will. I almost forgot how nicely pizza and hot sauce pairs up, and I have been going a little pizza mad. My sauce level is now below the neck of the bottle. It's always a little decieving to get this far, because it comes so fast. The skinny neck throws me off, so for a while I'll be wondering why I got through the first part so quickly.

Everything Should Be Wrapped In Pizza

This is very late but oh well. I had an interesting thanksgiving meal. I came up with it while I was drinking at a bar, so of course it's awesome. The original idea was wrapping a slice of Jumbo Slice around a Subway sandwich. I was at first excited to have created a new delicious food, but it seems I was beat to the punch by a couple of days. Right before I was set to make my creation, thisiswhyyourfat.com had a post about a "Philly Taco".

Trudging ahead even though I was no longer breaking new ground, I decided to make my dream a reality. I was going to stop by Subway then get some pizza and make it happen. Sadly, everything was closed and I had to resort to plan B. Fearing that everything would be closed on turkey day I bought all the fixins for a faux turkey sub and an oven pizza. It. Was. Awesome!


Yes, this is a faux turkey and swiss sub with an pizza wrapped around it. I think it would have been better with the name brand jumbo slice because this pizza kinda fell apart as I ate it. I only got about a third of the way through before I called it quits. In true thanksgiving dinner fashion I ate the rest the next day for several meals.

  • One Package of Deli Sliced Tofurkey
  • Four Slices of Swiss Cheese
  • Slathering of English Mustard
  • French Bread 
  • Frozen Pizza

End of the End, Start of the Start

This experiment has come to a close. The bottle is done and I drained every drop out of it. I didn't post everything I put hot sauce on and every saucy experience I had, but that's most likely for the best.





Towards the end, I went so far as to fill it back up again and with taco sauce, so I could get the little bit stuck to the edges. The super spicy taco sauce worked really well, the hint of Dave's gave the tacos a nice smouldering heat that didn't overpower but gave it a kick.  






So that's that. It took me about six months, I ate many many tacos, a smattering of pizza, some grinders and a lot of mac 'n cheese. I got adjusted to the heat quite quickly and found myself adding more and more. I really want to kick it up a notch next time and try a hotter hot sauce, that's why I'm proud to announce a new nonscientific experiment this time with Blair's Mega Death Sauce.




I was lucky enough to receive a bottle of Blair's Mega Death Sauce for the holidays and now get to start over again this time with an even hotter sauce. Mega death sauce is rated 550,000 Scoville Heat Units, a step up from Dave's Insanity Sauce. First on the Blairs spiced food train is of course tacos. Rather simple tacos from me but I was bored at the store and just wanted to go home. A little faux meat, beans, cheese, guacamole and then a few drops of Blair's.

This is my first experience with Blair's so I started out carefully putting three drops on the tacos. I put so little on them that I got a nice balance of heat and flavor. I have high hopes for the rest of my new bottle buddy.

Getting Close

I'm past the bottom of the bar code, and in just a few days time. I have to say I'm impressed with myself. It's been many eye watering dinners and lunches but it's been a good journey so far. My taste buds are bemoning that this is coming to an end, but I think that there could be another bottle in my future. I'm thinking about the Dave's Ghost Pepper hot sauce or Ultimate Insanity. 

It's been a while since I posted last but I have been taking photos so here is where all that sauce went. 

Leftover pizza from Capitol City Brewing. My camera says this was 10/25. The pizza was already really good, as most za is, but the greatness of day after pizza and the hot sauce really made this one great.  

 














Burritos, chili and cheese. The cheese really helps smooth out the hot sauce. I read once it was the lactose that helps with the heat. So if you happen to eat something beyond your spice level drink some milk or eat a block of cheese. Beer is supposed to make it worse. Oh well.  The camera says this is 10/26.

This was 10/28, according to Nikon Coolpix. I was going for soupcano (Soup Volcano) The hot sauce is the lava. Mashed potato is the volcano, the little bits of broccoli are the villagers, the cheese is sulfuric acid slowly escaping.

Gunked Up

Currently on a pasta streak, had mac 'n cheese 'n hot sauce one day and shells 'n cheese 'n hot sauce another. I'm so creative.

One of the troubles that always crops up is the issue of the the hot sauce cap. Usually with the kind of cap used to seal the bottle and the kind of slow pour needed for such spicy foods there is a residue left on the bottle. As sauce gets all over the bottle it makes it difficult to handle. I usually wipe the bottle top off as much as I can every once in a while. This means I'm wasting valuable delicious sauce. Since I am trying to eat as much of it as I can with this experiment I have been avoiding wiping away the gunked up top.

This has lead to an epic mound of dried sauce.
















I am going to wipe it off but it feels like a waste and like cheating. Good thing I'm not a scientist, otherwise I'd be worried about losing my funding.

Sometimes I Eat On A Box.

I have to say I am making some good progress on this bottle. I'm about an inch down from when I started, things are moving along quite well. Overall I have to say I'm enjoying this experiment, all my meals have that delicious burn that I enjoy so much.
















My chosen hot sauce, Dave's Insanity is not the hottest in the world, but it's a solid "Extreme" hot sauce. It has a nice flavor and of course plenty of kick. There are so many hotter sauces on the market, but it usually requires ordering online, paying for shipping then waiting around. For instant gratification a brick and mortar store works really well. I bought this guy at Cal Tor with a dollar off coupon so the price was nice and it was close-by. So, Insanity Sauce it is, I really like Ultimate Insanity and really really want to try the Ghost Pepper sauce, but alas I'll have to save it for the future.

This was veggie-chili with mashed potato and cheese. I have to say it was really good. I worked up a nice sweat eating this one.













This was a box dinner I had, meaning I ate my dinner on a box. It's all green and looks very nice, but below is two burritos, chili and cheese. The topping is guac, celantro and green peppers. The hot sauce on this one was a little more hidden.

Almost A Spicy Omelette

I like a good omelette, but I prefer making them at home because I can put what I want in it. The problem is that I don't make 'em very good. It always ends up being "Eggs With Stuff In It" rather than a proper restaurant brunch-quality omelette. I think twice I got the integral flip right. I know what my problem is, I just want to put too much stuff in it and then its heft destroys the damm thing.

The cheesy, guacamole bread did work out quite well though. The bloody looking red parts are Dave's.
